August/September 2010

Dear Parents/Guardians:

Once again, we are at the start of a new school year and the Rich South administrators, faculty and staff are excited about the many wonderful opportunities available for your student this school year. Once again, the Rich South Marching Band began the year off with leading the 2010 Bud Billiken Parade and representing our community with excellence and honor. I encourage you to encourage your student to become involved in a sport, activity, or club at Rich South. By being involved students develop positive relationships with their peers and teachers. They also learn the importance of giving back to their community and taking pride in being a Rich South Star. Through various support systems we have in place, we will continue to work collaboratively with you to ensure our students continue to improve and excel in their academics and extra-curricular activities.

Our goal for 2011 is to earn Adequate Yearly Progress and we need your assistance in helping us serve your student. Please assist us by ensuring your student arrives to school and class on time each day and is prepared with the necessary materials for class including homework. Also, please ensure your student is properly nourished and well rested each day.

Along with thoughtful preparation, students are expected to demonstrate appropriate behavior at all times. The student behavior expectations and District 227 Tardy Policy outlined on page 26 in the school planner will be strictly enforced. Our goal is to ensure your student is learning in a safe and nurturing environment conducive to promoting academic success for all students.
