Dear Parents/Guardians:
We are once again embarking on a new school year and the Rich South administration, faculty, and staff is excited about serving you and your student another school year. To assist us in facilitating a new school year with academic, athletic, musical, and overall success, we ask that you reinforce the Rich Township High School District 227 Student Handbook. Listed below are areas we will concentrate on during this school year, but we need your assistance. Part of our goals at Rich South are to reduce the number of incidences involving the infractions listed below, with a major concentration on tardiness to class.
-
Tardy – please ensure your student arrives at school no later than 7:35. This allows your student to go to his/her locker and arrive in class by 7:45 with their student identification card on and visible.
-
Be on time to EVERY class period
-
Be prepared for EVERY class with materials including their book, paper, pencil, or other materials required for class.
-
Students must observe sacred 15 – no students in the hallway the first 15 or last 15 minutes of class (to learn, students must be present)
-
Dress Code – School is a place for learning, we encourage your student to dress business casual.
-
No sagging pants
-
Sleeveless shirts must have a collar
-
No see-through clothing (this includes fishnet attire) (holes in jeans may not be on the thigh area of the leg)
-
No house-shoes or slippers
-
Skirts and shorts must be fingertip length
-
Leggings must be worn with a shirt that is fingertip length
-
Too tight or revealing clothing is not acceptable
-
Electronic Devices
-
Turned off and not visible upon entering the school
-
Includes cell phones, MP3 players, I-pods, etc.
-
Refusal to hand over an electronic devise at the request of a Rich South employee is an automatic 3 day out of school suspension.
-
Public Display of Affection
-
Verbal or Physical Altercations
-
Instigating or participating in verbal altercations that interfere with the learning environment is not acceptable and severe consequences will be administered
-
Physical altercations are prohibited and participants will receive severe consequences and possible referral to the police.
Let’s have a great year with many victories, success stories and increased student achievement.
Respectfully,
Mrs. Hudson,
Principal
