Mission Statement
The mission of the Rich South High School Media Center is to ensure that students and staff are effective users of ideas and information. The Rich South Media Center is committed to creating and maintaining a library media program that supports, complements and expands the instructional program of the high school. The Media Center provides services that promote extensive use of multi-media resources that are designed to meet the various needs of all learners in all facets of the curriculum. The Media Center provides a learning environment, which promotes inquiry, stimulates intellectual curiosity, and encourages pleasure reading. The media center provides instruction to prepare students to become independent users of libraries and information resources and to become life long learners.
Goals:
- To provide intellectual and physical access to materials in print and electronic formats.
- To provide instruction to cultivate competence and stimulate interest in reading, viewing and using information and ideas.
- To collaborate with students, faculty, staff and community agencies to create learning strategies to meet the needs of individual students.
- To create an atmosphere that encourages use of the media center and to guarantee open, equal, and flexible access to information, equipment, materials and facilities.
